First Trip to the Marcus Pool...and other stuff!

My parents live across the street from the city park and pool.....the kids will REALLY appreciate this some day! I loved living across the street from the pool-I'm pretty sure I was there every summer day from age 3-18! We took the kids to the baby pool on Saturday around 4. Was such a nice day. I think it took us longer to actually put on the suits/sunscreen/hats than we actually swam! It was fun though. It will be nice when they can sit up alone..another month and that should be mastered! We also stayed overnight Saturday and Sunday night at my grandma's house. Ryan went home Sunday afternoon because he had to work Monday. He also wanted to mow, get groceries and clean the whole house! THANKS RYAN!! So nice to come home to a clean house!

The kids love going to Marcus just as much as I do I think! They love swinging on the porch swing at mom and dad's and going on walks. Hinton is REALLY hilly so walks are no fun here! A good workout...but not that enjoyable if you just want to go on a nice stroll! We didn't do too much...just hung out! Here are a few pics. We started 'Tuesday night date night' about a month ago. My dad and mom watch the kids and Ryan and I go out to eat and do some shopping! I think tonight we'll go to Olive Garden and do a little shopping at Hobby Lobby :) Ryan will be excited I'm sure! It's so nice to have some adult conversation once a week with my husband! It's nice to put on real clothes too...not just gym shorts and t-shirts. I'll have to say that I save a lot of money on make-up/hair supplies/clothes because I don't go out very often! Who said triplets were expensive?!?

I made a mistake............

So Samantha was playing with Brady again today and of course he was chewing on her finger. She looked in his mouth and didn't see a tooth.....she saw TEETH. YES-2 TEETH!!!!!!! I can't believe it!

Aunt Samantha came for a visit yesterday and was playing with Brady. He's been drooling a lot lately but so have the other 2 kids.....He bit Samantha's hand and she said she felt a tooth! Of course I didn't believe her. It's too early for that and I'm not so sure I'm ready for teeth! I went and checked his mouth and sure enough, he has a tooth on the bottom!!!! He hasn't been fussy at all and doesn't have any signs that he's teething other than constant drooling.

We had these pictures taken at the end of May...A little late posting them because they were Ryan's Father's Day present and I didn't want him to see them. Didn't get the Hawkeye photos scanned because Ryan took them to work already. I thought the pictures turned out great...a little disappointed we didn't get a group shot with their hats on. You take what you can get with 3 babies!

Happy Father's Day!

Celebrated Father's Day at mom and dad's house on Sunday. Ryan got just what he wanted...a nice long nap! The kids surprised him with some fun pictures! Mom and I took the kids to get their pictures taken at the end of May...they turned out great and daddy loved them! They got some taken in their hawkeye onesies and also some in their cute sunhats! I need to scan them..I'll post them later this week hopefully!

6 month check-up...

Can't believe my babies are almost 6 months old! We had their 6 month check up on Tuesday. I was most anxious to hear how much they weighed and to see how they compared to other babies their age. Everything looks good! Brady weighed 14 lbs. 14 oz, Addie weighed 14 lbs. 7 oz, and chub (Colin) weighed 16 lbs. 14 oz! Dr. Beck says they are all healthy and developmentally on track! We don't have to be on Preemie formula anymore either! The boys were switched to Similac Sensitive (they are a little spitty) and Addie will be on Similac Advance.

He also recommended that we start eating meals 3 times a day. We've been only giving them veges at their dinnertime feeding so we're working on a new routine...We'll see what happens! They got to try some pears and they all loved it! I know every dr. says something different but mine recommends this for a schedule. Breakfast, lunch and dinner should be solids with 3 bottles for snacks somewhere in between there... Sounds like a lot of work but I'm trying it with Brady today. He had his morning bottle and veges and fruits at lunch. I hope to give him a little naptime bottle this afternoon and eat more fruits and veges for supper with a bedtime bottle a little later?! Who knows what will work?!


The kiddos are scooting everywhere...well Addie and Brady are. Colin is too chubby to move very far :) We need to get him to roll over more! Brady gets up on all 4's but doesn't know what to do next! He'll be the first to crawl for sure. They love playing with toys on the floor and can entertain themselves for quite awhile. They love the nice weather as much as I do! They love their stroller rides especially now that they can sit in the stroller and not in the carseat. We took them out for an hour last night and no one made a peep! Just looked around and took a cat nap.

The Perfect Day...

Many people ask me if the kids are on the same schedule. Do they eat at the same time? Sleep at the same time? Depends on the day I guess...Somedays they are close to the same schedule and somedays they are completely all over the place.

On Thursday, the first baby was up at 7am, the next at 8am and sleeper-head Addie slept till 9am. They all ate when they woke up. The first baby was ready to eat again at 11, followed by a 12:00 feeding and Addie ate at 1:00. So basically I was feeding someone every hour. NOT a good day.

Which brings me to THE PERFECT DAY. Yesterday, everyone was up at 8am. They all ate and took a nap TOGETHER for about 45 minutes. They ALL ate again at 11:45 and took a 2 hour nap TOGETHER. They all ate veges at 3:45 and we headed to the mall. Samantha and I met Ryan for some shopping and some Taco Johns! The kids were perfect! We got home around 7 and the kids ate their bedtime bottles at 7:30. All kids were in bed between 9:30-10!!!!! Doesn't get much better than that!

Now only if this could happen everyday.....not counting on it :)

I was dreading this day........

We've run out of diapers!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So my coworkers at school threw me a diaper shower before the babies were born. I ended up with about 1,800 diapers and a year supply of wipes! We also had several packages of diapers we'd gotten as gifts from many other friends and family members. I was totally dreading the day we'd have to start buying our own! Thanks to so many generous people, we made it 6 months! We do still have some bigger sizes stored away but we'll need to by buying some to fit us now! UGH!

1 Year Ago....

Sunday, June 7, 2009---I felt awful...it was a Sunday night and I had the worst cramps ever. I was at volleyball with the girls in South Sioux and I was a huge grump. I wanted to be pregnant so bad but I knew that with the way I felt that night, it would be a matter of hours before I got my period.

Monday, June 8, 2009---I woke up the next day at 7am...A little annoyed because it was the start of summer break and I didn't have to be up! I still felt like absolute CRAP but still no period. Ryan was getting ready for work as I layed there thinking about taking a pregnancy test. I'd taken many before but didn't want to waste another one! Those things are expensive. Ryan was downstairs and I couldn't take it anymore...I went to the bathroom and took it. I went to set it down on the toilet and was going to go make the bed....As I went to set it down, I almost barfed. Within SECONDS, It turned from the blinking timer, to that big, beautiful word- PREGNANT! I remember sitting on the bed staring at it. Lots of failed pregnancy tests, but not this time! I heard Ryan coming up the stairs. I set the test on the toilet seat and told Ryan to go into the bathroom. He found it right away and couldn't believe it either! YES! We were so thrilled! FINALLY going to be a mommy and daddy!

I called my OB's office that day and told them I was pregnant. They told me to come in the following day to take a blood test. I would then have to wait 2 days and come in again to take another blood test.

I went that Tuesday and gave blood. Later that day, the nurse called and said I needed to come in on Thursday for an ultrasound INSTEAD of a blood test.... I panicked of course. I thought something was horribly wrong already. She told me not to worry.....

Thursday came and Ryan and I headed to the doctor. The ultra sound tech told me to look for a black dot on the screen. Since I was only 4 weeks along, she told me it wouldn't look like much. Within seconds, I could see my baby! She froze the screen on the little black dot and said I was pregnant. She then said she was going to look around a little more. I didn't think much of that. A few seconds later, She froze the screen on another black dot.....She didn't say anything. I asked her what that was. She said.... "Well....(and paused for quite awhile), that could be a cyst or this or that, OR it could maybe be another baby." So I'm not an idiot...it looked just like the first black dot! She said they don't like to say that it's twins right away because I was only 4 weeks and things can happen.

After the ultra-sound was over, Ryan and I sat in the doctor's office waiting to speak with Dr. Eastman. He came in and said he wanted to see me in 4 weeks for another ultra-sound. He never mentioned anything about twins...just congratulated us on being pregnant!! I don't know about Ryan, but I left that day with a feeling we were definitely having twins. I didn't want to get my hopes up, but I just knew there were 2!!!

We had 4 LONG weeks to wait...July 9th couldn't come soon enough!!

9:59....

So I mentioned in a previous post that we rarely get the kids to bed before 11. Well, the last few nights the kids have been going to bed around 10:30!!! Definitely LOVING that! Last night, the kids ALL WENT TO BED BY 9:45!!!! I quick cleaned up and headed to bed myself. I glanced at the clock as I was getting in bed and it said....9:59!!!!!! Yes! Hope this continues!

Family, Friends and a Little ME Time!

Had a very nice weekend. On Friday, my sister came from Ames to stay with us for the night. We LOVE when she comes! The kids love her and she's a great help. We spent Friday at home playing with the kiddos and took a little trip to DQ for some ice cream!

Saturday was lovely.....I had the entire day to do what I wanted to do! Ryan's family was here so I was off duty from noon until 9pm! Samantha and I went for lunch and had a fun day shopping. Didn't get much for myself but got the kids a few things. I could spend my whole savings at Children's Place! Went to our preseason vball party at cousin Nate and Krista's Saturday night. Lots of GOOD FOOD and GOOD FRIENDS! Anxious for Wednesday night vball to start!

A Little Bit of Everything...

Well, the 2nd night at grandma's didn't go as well as the 1st! Colin slept in the pack and play and decided he wanted to play from 2-5am.....Pack and Play's are meant for naps, NOT sleeping for long periods of time! We had a great time at grandma's house and will do it again soon. I think gma and gpa loved having us over too :) Here are a few more pics we took while we were in Marcus!

Took the kids to the baseball game in Hinton tonight. They LOVED it! They love being outside. I was hoping it would knock them out for the night...and it did! It's 10:30 and Ryan is rocking the last kid to sleep! My plan is to go to every baseball game from now on I think!!

Sleepin at grams!

90 degree house + 2 grumpy, sweaty parents = sleepin at grams! We turned on the AC on Saturday to find that it didn't work worth a crap! Only blew out pee warm air. We suffered thru Saturday night at home but after spending Sunday at gram's with her AC, we decided I would go back to Hinton and pack everything up so we could stay in Marcus for a few days. What an ordeal trying to pack things for 3 babies for 2 nights. Our SUV was jammed full.....and the kids were already in Marcus. We'll need 2cars to get everything back home!

Our first night was a success!! I was worried it wouldn't go so well...sleeping in a different house, different environment... Just thought the kids might not sleep so great. My grandma has 2 cribs set up and we brought a pack and play. The kids slept GREAT! I made the mistake of sleeping in the same room as Brady......he snores so loud that I was up half of the night. NOT complaining though-way better than sleeping in a 90 degree house!

5 months old!!

Can't believe my babies are 5 months old! 5 months means time to try some veges! The doctor told us to wait until 5 1/2 months...but my babies are HUNGRY! We couldn't wait any longer! We'll start fruits after our 6 month check-up in June.
Colin would have eaten several jars of sweet potatoes if I would have let him! Brady and Addie did great too, but I didn't get a picture.

Brady is constantly rolling over. He rolled onto the play mat and found the mirror today. He smiled and laughed at himself for a few minutes! Too cute!

Addie also rolls all the time. I walked out of the room for a second and came back and found her half stuck under the couch. I think I'll be getting the gates out sooner than later. She's all over the place!

I've really enjoyed staying at home with the kids these last 5 months and am really looking forward to the next 3 months with them. Summer means it's that much closer to me going back to work in the fall......Already dreading that :( Come visit us this summer! We love visitors!
