Funnest Weekend Ever!

Yes, I'm fully aware that "Funnest" is not a word. Moving on...

The kids and I headed to Marcus Thursday night for the Marcus Fair! Maybe I'm just really lame, but this has to be my favorite weekend of the whole summer. It was the 75th Annual Fair and the town was full or people. My hometown has 1,200 people and I'm sure the town doubles in size during the fair weekend!

On Thursday night, we headed to watch papa play in a softball game. My dad played for a fastpitch softball team for several years while I was growing up. They had a bunch of the old timers come back to play another Marcus team. I think the players ranged from age 35ish-60 years old! So fun and the kids got to meet a lot of my friends. Papa did great too! Papa's team won 14-4 too!

On Friday, the kids got to ride on some rides! There were only 2 rides that they could really handle but they LOVED IT. Nothing cuter than watching the kids ride around on these little cars! We also participated in the Kiddie Parade. The kids were "Rub-a-dub-dub, 3 men in a tub!" We won 1st place in our catergory too! They wouldn't keep their hats on but they were still cute!

My bestie came to watch the kiddos in the parade.

Colin and his new friend Taylnn riding the cars.

Addie, Brady and Cousin Molly in the jeep. I can't even explain how big Brady would smile when he was on this ride!

Saturday-The best part of this weekend was spending time with my best friend, Brooke. She was home for her bridal shower. I am her maid of honor in November and I cannot wait! She got lots of awesome presents. Saturday night, we had a little Girl's Night out with her, too. I wish she lived closer. I hate seeing this girl only a few times per year!   We also watched the parade with the kids and they really loved it. I thought they would be scared of the loud firetrucks but they loved it!

The girls!
On Sunday, I played in a mud vball tourney and my team WON! We beat a team that had won the last 4 years in a row. Long day but so fun!  The kids rode on more rides and were beat by Sunday night. This mommy was too! I can't explain to you how much fun I had this weekend seeing so many good friends and family! More pics to come--mom has most of them on her camera!

To blog..or not to blog???

Ok....I need to know. You reads my blog? I like blogging and for those of you that don't know, I plan on making a book when I'm done. There are companies/websites that you send your blog to and they make a book. Thought the kiddos would like it when they were older.

So anyway, Who reads this? I can think of at least 20 people that I know read it regularly. Am I wasting my time if there aren't a lot of readers?? Text me, facebook me OR comment on this post and let me know if you're a faithful reader PLEASE!!! Commenting on this post would probably be easiest. You don't have to create an account if you don't want to. I think you can post anonymously if you want! Thank you!!

Some more 18 month pictures

We had their 18 month pics taken at the end of June at Trinity Heights in Sioux City. I left thinking we didn't even get a good photo! Glad I was wrong! They ran around a lot and rarely looked at the camera. Brady smiled a little, Colin was Mr. Serious the whole time, and Addie had a goofy squinty look!

Smiley!

Always so serious

My kids are cute

Addie was laying with daddy and he looked over at her and she had fallen asleep!

They love to get in a crib together and "jack around" as I call it!

I was in the kitchen and was worried because it was so quiet in the living room.....tired kiddos!

Pooped out

He fell asleep too!

My bestie didn't understand how I took the kids to Walmart/Target alone. I had to show her that I park near a cart rack and throw them all in the cart. I then go inside to find a 3 seater cart! Piece of cake :)

Trip to Eastern Iowa

We packed the kids up and headed 5 hours East after the kiddos 18 month checkup on Thursday. Our last trip to visit Grandpa and Grandma Dunkel was Memorial weekend and the ride out was great. Not so much this time. The kids napped on and off and never slept all together for more than 15 minutes. Lots of whining. I do want to point out that Brady was a rock star. I think I even whispered in his ear that he was my favorite child......

We did have a lot of fun once we got there though! We played outside, swam at the pool, played with the puppy, went out to eat, visitied friends and family and just relaxed! I got to see 4 of my dear friends--I miss Erin B., Erin C., Amanda and Brooke so much!

The ride home was great. The kids slept for 2 hours straight and hardly whined once!

18 month checkup

Kids did great! Everyone is healthy and doing just fine!!

We've mastered many of the things an 18 month old should be doing. The doctor asked if we were saying any 2 word phrases yet...Addie says a few but the boys don't yet. He said we should be looking for them to say 2-4 word phrases in the next 6 months.  He did suggest that at 20 months the kids should be in toddler beds. HA. NOT HAPPENING. I really like Dr. Beck and think his suggestions are great...but NOT THIS ONE! My kids will be in their cribs until they are 4. Ok. Maybe not that old.

He also said we should be looking for the kids to start saying body parts instead of just pointing and also learning to start to dress themselves! We'll see about that!

We had 3 shots and the cries lasted for about 10 seconds each. Not bad. Best part is that we don't get another shot until they are 4. WOOT!

We stood on the scale like big kids and even stood up against the wall to be measured. They aren't babies anymore!!!!!!!

Addison- 24 lbs -----33 inches tall
Brady- 24 lbs. 6 oz --33 1/2 inches tall
Colin- 27 lbs 6 oz ---34 1/2 inches tall!!!

Dr. Beck asked Ryan and I how tall we were and he said Colin is going to be tall! He's in the 90% for height!   Never would have guessed these kids were runts 18 months ago!
