Memorial Weekend

We loaded up the SUV and headed East for the weekend! This was our first real, long trip. 5 hours to be exact. Aunt Bree was having her graduation party this weekend so we thought this would be the perfect weekend to try traveling with the kiddos.

I started my "things to pack" list about 2 weeks ago. Didn't forget a thing. We all fit in the SUV too...barely! The kids traveled about 10x better than I thought they would. We left at 2pm on Friday and arrived at 7pm. We stopped twice--the first time just so Ryan and I could use the restroom and get a treat. We stopped at a big gas station/Arbys at 5pm and let the kids run around outside. We changed pants, ordered some food and away we went. The kids got to eat Curly Fries, cheetos and M&M's for supper.......lucky kids! Ha. Whatever keeps them happy. I did borrow a DVD player from a friend but never used it. First of all, it didn't work. HA. And we didn't need it anyway. The kids pretty much spent the drive eating or napping.

On Saturday, a few of my friends came for a visit! Amanda came with her son Jack and Brooke came with her two kids, Kami and Bodie! So fun to see them!

My 3 kids with Kami and Bodie.

Dunkel trips, Jack, Bodie and Kami! A house full!
We then went to Ryan's cousin's wedding reception that afternoon. The kiddos looked so cute! They wouldn't eat the meal (didn't surprise me) but of course snacked on cake and treats. They definitley ate like CRAP all weekend!

Great-gram with Colin

Sunday was Bree's graduation.  Rained all morning but was nice weather for her party! Saw lots of family and again, ate a lot of cake. I really think Addie ate a few pieces of each kind! There were many friends/family that had never even seen the kiddos in real life so it was fun for them to see them! We got to see our friends Aaron and Erin Becker (yes, they have the same name and they are married!) and their new baby Josephine! Addie LOVED her and would put her paci in her mouth when it fell out! I think Addie is going to be very motherly!

Pre-party..just chillin!

Cake!

My friend Molly and her daughter Alaina came to visit Monday morning! I taught with Molly at Seton. It was very nice to see her and little Alaina! We ended up heading out at 11. Kids slept for the first 1.5-2 hours. They did pretty well on the way home. Stopped after about 3 hours and let them play in a park for 20 minutes. Made it home in 5 hours again. Not bad. We were all restless by the end of the trip and ready to be home in our own beds!  Congrats to Bree on her high school graduation!!!

Feeling a little better

Colin seems to be about 90% better. Not eating a lot but hasn't barfed and his diapers are bearable again!  Addison is getting better. Took her to the doctor again today. He said her belly sounded better. Still could take another week for her to fully recover. As for being contagious...do not worry!! He said the only way to spread rotavirus is through her diaper! So basically--don't touch her poop!

Addie still lays around a lot and doesn't eat or drink much. Hoping tomorrow is better. Wanting my happy little girl back!

Rotavirus

So apparently the flu bug did not arrive at our house...  Turns out it is Rotavirus which caused dehydration.

I called this morning to get an appointment and got in at 1:00. Grannie called at 9:00 and said Addie wasn't looking so good. Ended up leaving school right away for a 9:30 appt. for Colin and Addie both. They both ended up with rotavirus--yes, we were vaccinated for it at their 9 month appt I believe. The doctor said that usually kids get that in the winter-not summertime. Since Addie had really only had 1 wet diaper in 24 hours, he sent us to the hospital for IVs for both kids.

I was a little worried on how the kids would do and to my surprise, they were perfect. So perfect the nurses said that they were the best behaved kids she'd ever done before.  (Maybe they tell all parents that?) But really, NOT ONE whine, whimper or cry while the nurses were messing with them. They both layed on the bed and didn't move while they put their IVs in. Addie feel asleep in my arms for the full hour we were there. Colin did great too. He got tired about 15 minutes into it and whined for 2 minutes until he feel asleep. I reclined and enjoyed a Dr. Pepper and watched Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. :) Definitely a pleasant experience.

We made it back home and Addie did end up barfing again. Colin seems to be doing much better. Addie is better but not great quite yet. Rotavirus is very contagious. Someone explain to me why Brady hasn't gotten it...yet??

Pukin' Rally

The flu bug has arrived I believe. These are the days I wished we had hardwood floors. Puke and carpet don't mix!! The puke count stands at Addison-4, Brady-0 and Colin-3.  I'm wondering if Brady will get it or we'll be lucky and he'll just miss out?!  This is my first experience with kids and vomit--so fun! Hoping my little loves feel better soon!

5:45

Dear little people that live in my house--
Which one of you can tell me WHY you feel the need to wake up at 5:45am the last 4 mornings?? Are you sick? Is it too bright in your room? Do you have to poop? Are you hungry or thirsty? Mommy is TIRED at 5:45am and would like you to sleep until at least 7am like you have been for the last several months. You better not plan on doing this all summer long my little loves!!!!

Love,

A very tired mommy

Hey dad!

This is what happens when daddy mows the lawn...the kids stand by the window and bang on it until he waves at them! So cute!

Addie and Brady are standing on the toy box and Colin is standing on a toy so they can get a better view!

The new chair I picked up at a garage sale. The kids love it!
More pictures to come soon! I haven't been taking many but grannie has a bunch on her camera. Check back soon!

What's new with us

It's been awhile-- I've been busy! Here are some random things that have been going on the last week or so. I'll hopefully add some pictures tomorrow.

  • We've all had colds/runny noses and I'm thinking it's finally over! UGH! Brady ended up with an ear infection and Colin just had a really red throat. Much happier kids this week! I guess we were due though. We've been SO lucky as far as having sick kids. Glad it's over.
  • Last week, the kiddos got to use their little pool for the first time this season. No swimsuits yet so we swam in our swim diapers! Addie LOVED it. She loved going down the little slide--even head first. She's going to be a fish in no time. The boys did ok. Colin insisted on bringing his bubble mower in the pool. Brady wasn't so sure--he got in and out several times. Anxious for many days at the Marcus Pool with gram this summer!
  • Brady and Addie got ahold of a fork last week and are working on eating with it. I'm impressed..they do quite well. Colin is still getting the hang of it.
  • We have 2 escapees. Colin figured out how to get out of the crib at gram's house. Brady got out of his crib 2 times today. NOT ready for this. He did it awhile back but hadn't in a month or so.
  • We've been enjoying the nicer weather and playing outside. Only 11 more days until SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!  Very excited to be able to be home with the kiddos each day.
  • We're learning so much and changing everyday. My tots will be 17 months on Saturday!

Mother's Day Weekend

Busy weekend--Mom and I participated in the Hinton city wide garage sales on Friday and Saturday. I sold almost all of my baby stuff... :(  I just have no room for it! If I have more kids someday, I'll just have to borrow from a friend I guess! I also scored a few good things too. I got the kids a swing that sits on the ground and has a little canopy. Mom got a Little Tikes wagon that she'll bring to her house. I also got an outside toy and a little kid comfy chair for the kids to sit in. Gma and Gpa D. were here on Saturday to help watch the kids while we worked!

Mother's Day was spent in Marcus. Had a very nice day-church and lunch at Great Grams house! The kids got me a gift certificate to get my toes done! Hope you mamas all had a great day!

One happy mommy with her 3 little loves.

I got her new sandals that she insists on wearing around the house...

Brady and his ouchy forehead. Brady took a nose dive on the cement.
